The Minnesota Wild (32-20-7) beat the New York Islanders (29-26-5) 5-3 this afternoon at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first, and the Wild expanded that to a 4-3 lead after two. The lone goal of the third went to Minnesota, giving them the 5-3 win. Devan Dubnyk stopped 32 of 35 Islander shots, with New York out-shooting Minnesota 35-32.

Scoring for the Minnesota Wild today came from Matt Cullen (6), Tyler Ennis (8), Joel Eriksson Ek (2), and a pair from Jason Zucker (24 & 25).

The win gives some breathing room to the Wild who hold the last Western Conference Wild card spot with a three point lead over Calgary -- but also brings them to within just one point of both St. Louis and Dallas.
