Wild Torch Flames Tuesday Night At The X
The Wild beat the Calgary Flames 5-1 Tuesday night at Xcel Energy Center for their third straight win. The Flames actually scored the game’s first goal, then watched Minnesota score five unanswered throughout the rest of the contest.
After Jiri Hudler scored for Calgary just over five minutes into the game, Mikko Koivu scored his second of the season for Minnesota at 9:07 to knot things up at one into the first intermission.
From that point on, it was all Wild. Zach Parise scored the second period’s lone goal at 6:28 on the power play, his seventh goal of the season.
Rookie Justin Fontaine scored his fifth of the year at 8:05 of the third period, followed by Zenon Konopka’s first of the year just :33 later. Parise added his second of the game, and eighth of the season, at 13:14 of the third period to cap the scoring.
The Wild are in Washington to take on Cathedral graduate Nate Schmidt and the Capitals on Thursday night.
