Originally part of Buster Meikle & The Day Breakers, Russ Ballard started his career in 1961. In 1972, he scored big as the singer for Argent, singing their hit "Hold Your Head Up" which went to #5 here and in the U.K. "Voices" was featured on a Miami Vice episode in 1984 and hit #15 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. Ballard was also credited with writing the 1981 Santana hit "Winning", and he wrote and produced "You Can Do Magic" for the group America.
