My wife tells me that if I could teach people how to sleep as great as I do, I would be a billionaire. She claims I'm out cold a minute after my head hits the pillow.  Weekends, I can easily log in 9 to 10 hours of good sleep a night.

Evidently, many Minnesotans are having a tough time getting the sleep they need. It most likely, for most, has to do with what an f'd up year 2020 has been. The virus, the election, who knows?

According to Insider Living sleep survey from mattressinsider.com Minnesotans have a tougher time getting their necessary sleep lately, compared to many other states.  Women seem to be more affected than men. Most claim to be getting an hour less sleep than they did last Spring, before the pandemic.

Men have lost, on average, 12 minutes of sleep per night. In comparison, women have lost over 16 minutes of sleep per night. This may not sound like much, but adds up to over 100 hours over the next 12 months.

Last Spring 44% of Minnesotans were getting the recommended 7 hours of sleep a night.  That number has dropped to 31% since the pandemic. It has been a pretty strange year, so far.  The pandemic, virtually learning for students, crazy election, etc. It's a wonder any of us get any sleep.

I tell my wife that you just have to shut down your brain and go to sleep. I forget that women's brains have 30 different tabs open at any given time, so that may be difficult.

I guess being simple minded has it's perks.  I sleep like a log.
