Event To Help Minnesotans Avoid Scammers Is Coming Soon
I was pumping gas the other day, and I noticed that all the people around me were like me, using the “pay at the pump” option. When all we need is gas, it makes sense, right?

I did a quick Google search, and it told me that the percentage of people who pay cash for gas these days is between 14% and 21%. I’m trying to remember the last time I used cash for gas, and I can’t.
With all the computerized and online financial decisions, we make each week, it’s no surprise that the challenges we face to keep from being scammed or swindled are harder to recognize.
Just as new security measures are taken to protect us, those with ill intentions against us find new ways to get around those measures or create more creative ways to trick us into falling into the trap of giving them our information.
There Is Help To Fight Scammers!
If you would like to level the playing field the best you can, there’s an event in Rochester on May 28th that will arm you with new information and insight into the latest scams that are beginning to be circulated.
The event is called “Scam Jam” and is a cooperative effort between AAPR Minnesota and the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota.
Scam Jam will feature speakers and presentations to help you have the latest insight that could help keep you from becoming a victim. This event starts at 8:30 and will last until around Noon. Breakfast will be served. The event is free, but you do need to register ahead of time.
