Okay, so I’m acquiring a bit more knowledge about the craft beer scene as of lately. I’ve spent the last year or so trying local, craft beers and visiting different breweries. I’ve had my fun bouncing around various establishments and sampling the nectar of the gods (beer) but I had one experience recently that completely blew me away.

Last week Surly Brewing was kind enough to let me interview them, give me a tour, and let me try some of their beverages and holy smokes – it was seriously the most fun I’ve had in years.

From the moment I walked in, I felt like Charlie visiting Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. For a beer connoisseur, this place is heaven. There’s a numinous quality about it that enchants you from the moment you walk in. I’ve been to cool breweries before, but this place is something else.

The Surly Brewery comes complete with several bars, restaurants (with food to die for) and a pretty gorgeous outside gathering area so you can enjoy your top notch beer in the sun.

The folks at Surly were generous enough to let us capture nearly an hour of behind the scenes footage where they give us 2 different interviews, a tour of the brewery, and let us sample a handful of their beers. If you’re a beer snob (assuming you probably are since you live in Minnesota) you’re gonna love this. Check out the first of the 3 part video series behind the scenes of Surly beers below.
