Back in Poison's heyday, it used be all about drugs, booze and women. Well, the days of Reaganomics and excess are gone as is Bret Michaels's rock cred.

Bret Michaels is re-recording Poison's smash hit "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" for...wait for it...Kidz Bop.

Yep. That's right. Kidz Bop. The albums feature watered down pop tunes sung by kids. This one is called "Monster Ballads" and the track features Bret on guitar and he left the singing up to the children, including his own two daughters, 10-year-old Raine and five-year-old Jorja.

Bret and the girls are also hosting an air guitar competition at kidzbop.com starting May 2. The rules say you should upload a video of your son or daughter showing off their best air guitar skills and the winner plus a parent or guardian will get a trip to see one of Bret's concerts. I'm guessing it's probably one of his solo shows. I don't think any parent would take their innocent, impressionable child to one of the Motley Crue/Poison/New York Dolls gigs this summer.

The Kidz Bop Monster Ballads album comes out May 17 and a portion of the proceeds will be benefiting Bret's Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

By the way, you can catch Bret and Poison with Motley Crue and New York Dolls June 24 at Target Center and Bret is doing two solo gigs this summer in August. One the 19th at Black Bear Casino and the other at Elko Speedway.
