A popular brand of ready-made salad kits is being recalled.  The United States Food and Drug Administration is reporting that Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc. is voluntarily recalling a limited number of cases of their Dole Sesame Asian Chopped Salad Kit. The concern is a possible undeclared allergen.

The potential undeclared allergen is egg.  Dole has reason to believe that the dressing and topping kit designed for a different product of theirs was unintentionally used during a portion of the production of the Sesame Asian Chopped Salad Kit.  Because the dressing and topping kit wasn't intended for this specific salad kit, the eggs aren't listed as ingredients and therefore the potential for allergen-concerns exists.

At the present time no illnesses or medical issues have been reported.  It's important to note that the food product is edible (i.e. there are no spoilage or bacteria situations involved); the concern is the allergen presence for those who have food-based - specifically egg - allergies.
