Drew Reviews Surly’s “Darkness – Imperial Russian Stout”

As a lover of craft beer, I have been waiting for weeks to get my hands on one recent release in particular. I’m talking about Surly’s Darkness Imperial Russian Stout. There are a variety of different beverages that Surly offer, from light and crisp brews to the thick and dark.

Personally, I’m all about the dark side of beer (insert Star Wars reference here.) A good dark brew is somewhat of a meal in itself. It should be at least as fulfilling as a 3 course meal, if not more. I have high standards when it comes to dark beer, and I have to say, Surly have exceeded my every expectation with the Darkness.

Clocking in at 10.30% ABV, this particular concoction is not for the faint of heart. It’s definitely a beer snob’s beer. I’ve tried most of Surly’s brews at this point, and this is their most bold, rich, and potent recipe to date. Believe me, I love their Coffee Bender, Furious Black, Damien, and Todd The Axe Man, but this my friends is Surly’s magnum opus.

If you’re looking for a full flavored, thick beer that gives you the perfect buzz within moments of consumption, then look no further. The Darkness Imperial Russian Stout it perhaps my favorite beer of all time. Give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed.
