Even in Summer, the Internet Wants to Know “Why Is Minnesota So Cold?”
Back in January, we featured a story about the most popular Google prediction results when searching "Why is Minnesota so..." The idea was inspired by a post on the Minnesota thread of Reddit where Reddit user Madmax-imus determined the No. 1 Google prediction result for each state ("Why is Minnesota so," "Why is Wisconsin so," "Why is South Dakota so" etc.).

As it was winter at the time, the number one Google prediction "Why is Minnesota so cold" came as no surprise. Other predictions at the time included "Scandinavian," "rich," "cold in the winter," "nice," "great" and "humid." Our neighbors in North Dakota also earned a top Google prediction with "cold;" South Dakota's was "cheap," Iowa's was "boring," and Wisconsin's was "weird."
Well, seven months and a completely different season later, we thought we'd check back and see what the internet is wondering about Minnesota now. Turns out, not much has changed. The number one Google prediction result is still "Why is Minnesota so cold." "Humid" also made the list of results again, though new search results include "hot," "expensive," "foggy" and "hazy."
As far as how Google's "search prediction" works, here's what the all-knowing web browser has to say about itself:
Search predictions are possible search terms related to what you’re looking for and what other people have already searched for. Google makes search predictions based on factors, like popularity or similarity. When you choose a prediction, you do a search using the term you selected.
And if you're wondering "Why is Minnesota so cold?" click here for about 77,300,000 results...
