Gophers Use Five Goal Barrage to Down Penn State 5-1
MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Gophers used a five goal barrage to easily down Penn State 5-1 on Friday night. Penn State led off the scoring in the first with a goal from Kenny Brooks. The Gophers would answer back with five unanswered goals.
Sam Warning tied the game in the first with his 12th goal of the year. Hudson Fasching gave Minnesota the lead a few minutes later, making it 2-1.
Kyle Rau closed out the first period with another Minnesota goal, making it 3-1 going into the second.
Taylor Cammarata scored a power play goal just 30 seconds into the second for the Gophers. Nate Condon would add a shorthanded goal for Minnesota later in the period, making it 5-1.
Goalie Adam Wilcox had another great performance in front of the net, stopping 30 shots for the Gophers.
Minnesota improves to 22-4-5 overall this year and 11-2-2-0 in the Big Ten. Both teams will face off again at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
