I'm always appreciative when I see a business step up and help out with a national problem that touches most all communities in the country, runaways.

God forbid you ever have to have one of your kids run away. It happens quite often, too often. You see it on social media everyday. "Have you seen this person" or "Missing". Sometimes it may be a vulnerable adult but most often it's a runaway teen.

When a runaway makes the decision to return home, often they are far from home, and probably have little or no money. The last thing a parent wants is for their child to be at the mercy of strangers

Greyhound Bus has teamed up with the National Runaway Safeline to help get runaways home safely.  Greyhound's Home Free Program is offering free tickets home to runaways between the ages of 12 and 21.  About 400 kids and teens use this service every year.

If you are a runaway or know one that needs a ride home, have them call the NRS helpline and let them know they are ready to go back home to their family.

There are some prerequisites. To be eligible for the ticket, there must be a runaway report already filed for the child. A person can only use the Home Free program twice.

If the runaway is under the age of 15, a parent or legal guardian may also use the service for free.

To reach the NRS helpline call 1-800-786-2929.
