This year, history is being made by including a model that is wearing a burkini and hijab. And she looks pretty amazing.

Halima Aden is a refugee from Kenya.  She and her mother moved to the United States when she was 8 years old.  First to St. Louis, then to St. Cloud.  When they first moved to this country she had to learn the language and try and make friends and get acclimated to her new surroundings. Eventually, she did figure everything out and was very successful in school.  She was elected Homecoming Queen while in high school, and also entered the Miss Minnesota pageant in 2016.  She didn't win, but did catch the eye of some model scouts.

Cut to this year, and she is the first person to wear a burkini and hijab in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.

Aden has had a fairly successful modeling career and will probably continue to do so along with her work as an ambassador,
