Make Sure Your Kid Doesn’t Pick Up This Central Minnesota Bug!
As I was going to take my dog for a walk this weekend I walked out the front door and for whatever strange reason, looked up. And crawling around above the front door was this thing!
Upon further Google searching (I typed in "yellow fuzzy scary caterpillar", very scientific) I found out this little guy will grow up to be an American Dagger Moth which sounds horrifying. It also turns out that the caterpillars are mildly poisonous. Touching one of them can cause a burning, stinging, or itching sensation and can cause a rash. In addition to that they like to hang out around parks, backyards, and school yards so make sure your kiddos don't get fooled by this bugs fuzzy friendly appearance!
The good news is that with fall being here a lot of these type of critters will be going dormant for the winter. The silver lining to summer being over! Have you seen these in your backyard recently? Share your story with us in the comments!
