Immediately when I see that the Betty Ford Clinic - Hazelden, is adding to their addiction treatment care I think it means that they are expanding; as in adding more locations.

That is not the case.  Right now, there are 15 Betty Ford Addiction Treatment facilities around the United States.  This has been a staple in addiction treatment for years.  Having addiction issues within my own family, I have always known that the Betty Ford Addiction Treatment facilities are considered as one of the best in the country. It's definitely a no-nonsense approach to addiction treatment.  Some facilites, mostly geared toward the rich and famous, will treat patients with "kid gloves".  Not this treatment facility.

Now, they are expanding.  What that means is that they are adding mental health care is being added to all levels of care across the country.

From KARE 11:

Rannon Arch, Director of Co-Occurring Clinical Services for the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, says "It was a necessity in my opinion. I think it took us a lot of courage though to say our care needs to evolve with our patients." He adds  53% of patients have some kind of anxiety disorder, 40% are dealing with depression and 38% are battling trauma or another stress-related disorder.

Some of this did come from treating patients during the pandemic, which was very hard on not only businesses, but also people.  Especially people with addiction issues.

"It's probably our most ambitious change we've made in our 76 years. These are treatable conditions and we have a lot of innovative ways to to give people the tools and the hope that they're looking for."

Personally, I'm surprised that this hasn't already been implemented.  There is so much talk about how important mental health is, for almost every reason you can think of, not just because of additction.  Just life in general.  Regardless, it's great that they are giving more of a focus on this issue.
