I love to go on hikes in the many state parks that we have here in Minnesota.  Also - traveling to other states and checking out their state parks is also a good time.  It's a great form of exercise, and you get to see some really beautiful scenery along the way.  If you are someone who may need to take some breaks along the way to catch your breath, there is usually some perfect spots to do just that. Make sure to take some pictures too.

HIKING GORGES AND RAVINES CAN BE TRICKY

In a lot of other states, there are some ravines and gorges that you can check out.  There was one is Montana that we came across with a beautiful waterfall.  It's not that we don't have those here in Minnesota.  We do, but they are not as prevelant as they are in some other more mountainous states.

LISTENING TO OTHER PEOPLE'S EXPERIENCES IS IMPORTANT

I also like to hear other people's perspectives and recommendations on some hikes that they have been on, and what to avoid and what is a definite must see and do.  There is the AI version now where you can ask for recommedations based on ability around the state, and there is also the site Only in Minnesota which gives people's experiences.

This trail is located Northeast of Grand Marais.  So it's a ways up there.  The trail is called the Kadunce River Wayside Trail, and there is a ection of it that might make people who are concerned about small spaces have a bit of a claustrophobic trigger.

...you'll have a decision to make. Stick with the trail and follow the river along the rim of the gorge, or hike the river itself. The advantage to the latter is that you'll get to see and experience a pair of waterfalls much more closely than you can from the trail above. The advantage of the former is you'll stay dry—and untriggered by claustrophobic conditions. The most important considerations in making your decision are, as with all river and canyon hikes, flow rate and weather. If the river levels are high or rain is forecast, stay on the trail. Period.

ARE YOU A PERSON WHO HAS AN ISSUE WITH CLAUSTROPHOBIA

I'm not usually a person who is claustrophobic in small spaces.  If I'm confined, like I can't move, then that is triggering, but not just being in a small space. Put me in a straight jacket and I might have an issue.  But I think if I came upon this portion of the trail and I had to make a decision I think I would be willing to try it.  Also considering if there are people with me and if I have the right gear too.  It would be a "game time" decision.

Have you ever hiked this trail?  What was your experience?
