I was born and raised in this Winter wonderland we call the Midwest. I remember brutal winters with a lot of snow and many days with sub zero temps. In grade school, we walked to and from school every day. We also walked home and back for lunch. I guess, my point is that the cold and snow never really bothered me until I got older. But now, I HATE Winter. Can't stand it and actually dread it's arrival every year. Maybe, it's because my blood has thinned from spending over twenty years of my life living in the Sunbelt. San Diego, Houston and Orlando spoiled me.

A comedian from the Cities, Diane Ford, once said "Only a Scandinavian would pack up everything they owned, travel across the ocean and halfway across North America and settle somewhere just as f*#king miserable as the place they left."

When I lived in the Sunbelt, people from back home would always say, "Don't you miss the seasons?". Yeah, about as much as I miss black and white TV.

I've made no secret, on air, of my feelings about Winter. Some people tell me I must embrace Winter and snowmobile, cross country ski, etc. No thanks, give me a beach with that nice, warm sunshine and I'm a happy guy.

I guess, the reason I am even writing this is that last week we actually had just a little taste of Spring. Snow was melting, roads were dry, temps bearable and everyone's mood seemed to be on the upswing. Then we are bitchslapped by Mother Nature, reminding us that it is still February.

Anyway, thanks for letting me get that off my chest. I will now go brush all the snow off my car and slide sideways most of the way home and hope that a-hole groundhog wasn't lying.
