Meet K9 Officer ‘Cash’ -The Tiny Cop With Big Personality
There’s a brand new officer in Virginia, Minnesota, and he’s already becoming the most talked-about member of the department. The Virginia Police Department just introduced an absolutely adorable new addition to its K-9 unit. Meet K-9 Officer, 'Cash'.
Cash may be small, but according to the department, he brings a big personality to the job. Standing at just 15 inches tall, Cash is already making his presence known around the station and proving that even the most compact officers can have an important role to play.
A VERY SPECIAL SET OF SKILLS
The department shared the fun announcement with the community, joking about Cash’s “specialized skills.” His duties reportedly include tactical crumb detection, high-speed pursuits over very short distances, and strategic ankle-level intimidation. Officers say he is also highly trained in barking at suspicious activity (and occasionally, the wind).

While the description was clearly shared with a sense of humor, it quickly caught the attention of people across the community who couldn’t help but smile at the tiny new officer.
WHAT A DOG
Police departments around the country have long used K-9 units for important work like tracking suspects, detecting narcotics, and helping locate missing people.

CASH HAS A SPECIAL PURPOSE
But dogs like Cash also serve another valuable purpose. They help connect officers with the community, and remind people that law enforcement agencies are made up of real people who appreciate a little joy and laughter, too.
Cash may not be chasing down suspects in the traditional sense, but he’s already proving to be a morale booster for the department and a crowd favorite among residents.
The department even joked that a booster seat for the squad car has already been submitted for budget approval, so their newest officer can ride along in style.
ALONG FOR THE RIDE
For now, the Virginia Police Department is simply enjoying introducing the community to its most compact recruit.
