When I was a young, angsty teenager, I fell in love with rock music. Some of the first bands I submerged myself in were Mastodon, CKY, and Dream Theater. It was heavy, aggressive material. But then something magical happened.

A friend of mine bought me the Foo Fighters’ Greatest Hits CD, and I instantly fell in love with it, which surprised me. Sure, they have some somewhat heavy tunes, but they’re primarily known for their happy, upbeat rock anthems. They were the first band I liked that wasn’t all doom and gloom. “Everlong” “My Hero” and “Best Of You” showed me that it was okay to like fun, uplifting music.

That CD made me feel emotions I had never felt before. And that’s part of why Dave Grohl is the reigning king of rock-n-roll. That, and the fact that the man is ALWAYS working. So it should come as no surprise that Foo Fighters are still as busy as ever. Check out the new episode of Rock Talk to see what they’ve been up to lately.
