I don't recall ever being so desperate for sex that I considered paying someone for it but it seems to be a huge business and a major task for law enforcement.  Human trafficking is a serious problem, not only in the U.S. but worldwide.

Recently, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension staged a human trafficking sting in Northern Minnesota and arrested 6 men, including 3 from Minnesota.  According to the Minnesota BCA news release, they placed an ad on a sexual advertisement website and arrested the 6 men as they arrived at the arranged meeting place for a "commercial sex crime".

The six men were booked on probable cause solicitation of prostitution of an adult.  The 6 men were held with charges expected to be filed in the "coming days".

Two of the Minnesota men, a 56 year old and a 24 year old, are from Bemidji and one 43 year old from Park Rapids. The other 3 were a 39 year old from Washington, a 48 year old from Missouri and a 49 year old from Illinois.

I assume names are being withheld until charges are filed.

Two of the men busted were working on the Enbridge Line 3 pipeline replacement project. The pipeline company told the Star Tribune that the men in question had been fired.

"Enbridge and our contractors have zero tolerance for illegal and exploitative actions. That is why we are joining with our contractors and unions to denounce the actions of those who participate in sex trafficking."

BCA Superintendent Drew Evans said This operation was part of our ongoing, collective commitment to rid our communities of sexual exploitation. It is never okay to purchase another person for sex.”

Tribes United Against Sex Trafficking and the Bemidji Police Department assisted the Minnesota BCA Human Trafficking Task Force in the sting operation.
