'Tis the season... Lent.  Today is Ash Wednesday, of course that follows the indulgence of Fat Tuesday.  So now... until Easter Sunday, if you practice this ritual, you give something up for 40 days.

There was a survey done to see what people thought were the hardest things to give up during this time.  Here are the results:

TV/Streaming 29%

Caffeine 19%

Chocolate/Social networking. This was a tie at 11%

Soda (people still drink this on the reg?) 7%

Alcohol 6% (I can't believe this one was less than soda)

Fast Food 5%

Honestly, the last 3 I could give those up almost completely. And the only reason I say almost is because I do still like an occasional drink.  The soda and the fast food- 100% could give that up pretty much forever.  I'm surprised that fast food is still hard for people to give up, being that there is such a push for health eating.  Although, with that said, you can get healthy fast food.  People just generally don't think of it that way.

I was also taught that it is actually better to DO something that would take you out of your comfort zone and does good for someone else rather than to give something up.  But to each their own (I do get the reason to give something up, I just like this idea).

If you are giving up something for lent, how hard is it for you and what is it?
