We have had such mild temperatures recently, but winter will return next week with temperatures predicted to be in the teens again.

It's not too early to start thinking about Summer, and what adventures await.  Many of which can happen right here in Minnesota.  One of the best areas for camping and also canoeing with some beautiful terrain and awesome views is the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern Minnesota.

I personally have only seen pictures from people who have had this experience and adventure. It's not that I wouldn't go, but I just haven't had the opportunity to go.  At least timing and people haven't given me the opportunity. I'm not interested in going by myself.  Although people do that, it can be very serene to do something like that.

Right now, permits for the BWCA are on sale.  They went on sale January 29th.  So, you can now purchase your permit and then start planning your trip.

Permits are limited, so it's best to have some dates in mind so you can plan for your adventure. Plus, if you happen to have a date in mind, then it doesn't work out, it's best to let the BWCA know so that they can resell those permits to someone else.

You can view and purchase your permits here online, which is recommended for right now, anyway.  Best and easiest way to puchase permits that run from May 1st through September 30th.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
