I would have to say the most musically influential and commercially successful bands of the late 60s and early 70s was  Creedence Clearwater Revival with a mix of  rock and the essence of country, R&B and blues.

Bayou Country:

The album 'Bayou Country' released in January of 1969.

Two of CCR's signature songs from that album would be, "Proud Mary" and "Born on the Bayou."

Must we not forget about songs, "Bootleg" and the cover of Little Richard's, "Good Golly Miss Molly."

The album peaked at number seven on the Billboard charts.
