Feeding a group of people for Thanksgiving is expensive. This year can be much easier on the pocketbook by just following these 5 easy tips:

1. Ask guests to each bring a dish. Not only does this save you dollars by not having to buy ALL the food, but guests like to bring something to contribute generally. Even if it's just a can of cranberries...

2. Don't make 100 pounds of food. Have a lavish dinner doesn't always mean there's enough food to feed an entire army. If you're always pushing tons of leftovers to have your guests take home, then you're making way too much. Most of the time the leftovers don't get eaten anyways.

3. Look for shopping deals and use coupons. Coborn's, Cash Wise, Byerlys, Cub Foods compete to get people to shop there and always have coupons around this time of year for Thanksgiving foods. Don't wait until a few days before the holiday, look for great deals throughout the year. See our lowest turkey prices found in the St. Cloud area.

4. Pool your turkey stamps together. Many stores have a turkey stamp program, where you get a stamp for every $10 you spend there. I know for sure Coborn's does this. Ask family to collect their stamps and give them to you to get your free turkey when you have collected enough of them.

5. Use smaller plates. This may seem weird, but people take enough food to fill their plate. Most of the time they take more than they can eat and toss out the remainder. If anything, you won't need to make as much food, or will have more leftovers to use for another meal.

You could easily save 50% or more this Thanksgiving by using all these tips. You can guarantee I'll be doing it, and I hope you will as well!
