Cathedral Baseball Looks To Defend State Title This Week
The Cathedral baseball team will start their defense of the Class AA state title Thursday when they play the Class AA State Tournament quarterfinals against Cloquet at Dick Putz Field at 10am, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 9:50.
Rox Lose 5-0 At Duluth
The St. Cloud Rox lost 5-0 at Duluth Tuesday night. Duluth scored 4 runs in the 6th inning and 1 run in the 7th. The Rox managed just 5 hits and Michael Strem had 2 of them.
Royals Blank Twins 2-0
The Twins lost 2-0 at home against Kansas City Tuesday night. Chris Young took a no-hitter into the 7th inning before Trevor Plouffe broke it up with a double down the right field line.
Twins’ Game Tonight Postponed in Boston
The Twins had their game postponed tonight in Boston. The game will be made up as part of a day/night doubleheader on Wednesday. The first game Wednesday will now begin at 12:35, with the 2nd game to begin at its regularly scheduled time of 6:10. Hear both games on WJON.
Rox Top Thunder Bay 2-1
The St. Cloud Rox were 2-1 winners at home against Thunder Bay Sunday. Liam Bedford was 2-3 with a run scored and 1 RBI and Michael Strem had 2 hits for the Rox. St. Cloud scored both of their runs in the 7th inning while Thunder Bay scored their run in the 9th inning.
SCSU Men’s Basketball Signs Mussman and Davis
The St. Cloud State men's basketball team signed 2 players to NSIC and National letters of intent. The two are 6''5 190 pound guard/forward Jake Mussman from St. Cloud Tech High School and 6'4 200 pound guard Gage Dave from Indiana Purdue-Fort Worth.
SCSU Baseball Falls in NCAA Opener
Top seeded St. Cloud State Baseball lost 10-4 to 6th seeded Henderson State in the first round of the NCAA Division II tournament at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud Friday. Henderson State scored 2 runs in the 1st inning, 3 in the 5th and 5 in the 8th inning.
Johnnie Baseball Eliminated From NCAAs
The St. John's Baseball team lost 2-0 Thursday in an elimination game to UW-Whitewater in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The Johnnies outhit Whitewater 8-6. Whitewater scored single runs in the 7th and 9th innings. Aaron Pfaff had 3 hits and Tom Druk had 2 hits for St. John's.
Johnnie Baseball Drops NCAA Tourney Opener
The St. John's baseball team lost 4-2 to Coe College of Iowa in La Crosse, Wisconsin today in their first game of the NCAA Division III tournament at the Midwest Regional. St. John's scored a run in the first inning but Coe came back with 2 runs in the 2nd inning and 2 more in the 4th.
Tigers Edge Twins 2-1 in 10 Innings
The Twins lost 2-1 in 10 innings in Detroit to the Tigers Tuesday night. Ian Kinsler drove in Anthony Gose in the 10th inning with a single to end the game. The lone Twins' run came in the 8th inning when Danny Santana tripled and Torii Hunter drove him in with a sacrifice fly.
Twins Call Up Aaron Hicks; Robinson on Family Leave
The Twins have recalled outfielder Aaron Hicks from Triple-A Rochester where he was hitting .336 with 2 homeruns, 14 RBIs and 21 runs scored in 27 games. Hicks is a career .201 hitters in parts of 2 seasons with the Twins.
Vikings Cut 5 Players; Minicamp This Weekend
The Vikings cut 5 players today with a mini-camp happening this weekend. The 5 are safety Ahmad Dixon running back Henry Josey, tight end Ryan Otten, tackle Antonio Richardson and guard Austin Wentworth.
