Gophers’ Walker Gets Big Ten Honor; SCSU, CSB Honor too
Gopher basketball center Maurice Walker is the Big Ten's player of the week. He received the honor Monday after averaging 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds a game in a pair of Gopher wins over North Dakota and Southern last week.
Kings Blank Wild 4-0
The Minnesota Wild lost 4-0 at home to the L.A. Kings Wednesday night. The Kings scored 4 first period goals. Darcy Kuemper allowed 4 goals with 6 saves before being lifted for Niklas Backstrom. Backstrom had 12 saves the rest of the way.
Bucks Beat Timberwolves 103-86
The Timberwolves lost 103-86 to the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday night. The matchup featuring a combined 4 players starting who are 19-years old. Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins for the Wolves are 19. Wiggins had 14 points and LaVine scored 12.
Gopher Basketball Disappoints in New York
The Gopher basketball team lost 70-61 in Madison Square Garden in New York to St. John's Wednesday night. Minnesota led by double figures in the first half including a 40-31 lead at halftime.
Wild End Skid with 6-3 Win Over Buffalo
The Minnesota Wild downed Buffalo 6-3 Thursday night to end a 4-game losing streak. Nino Neiderreiter scored a hat trick for the Wild including a power play goal.
Rockets Down Timberwolves 113-101
The Timberwolves lost 113-101 in Mexico City to the Houston Rockets Wednesday night. Minnesota trailed by 4 at halftime and was outscored by 10 in the 3rd quarter. Houston was led by James Harden with 23 points and Dwight Howard with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Timberwolves Play Rockets in Mexico City
The Timberwolves play the Houston Rockets in Mexico City tonight at 9pm, pregame on WJON at 8:30. The Wolves attempted to play San Antonio in Mexico City last season but couldn't because of smoke in the arena.
Wild Falls 3-1 at New Jersey
The Minnesota Wild lost 3-1 at New Jersey Tuesday night. The loss is the 4th straight for the Wild. Ryan Carter scored the lone Wild goal in the 3rd period after New Jersey led 2-0 after 2 periods.
Wild Are Getting Healthier; At New Jersey Tonight
The Minnesota Wild got some good news Monday when Zach Parise, Jared Spurgeon and Josh Harding all worked out with the team on the ice. Parise has been missing time with a concussion.
Gopher Hockey Wins, St. John’s Hockey Ties
The Gopher men's hockey team defeated Notre Dame 4-2 Sunday. Minnesota scored 3 first period goals and complete the sweep of Notre Dame. The Gophers defeated the Irish 5-0 Friday night.
Senators Blank Wild 3-0
The Minnesota Wild lost 3-0 at Ottawa Thursday night in the first game of a 3-game road trip. Ottawa scored 2 goals in the 2nd period and 1 in the 3rd. Niklas Backstrom had 14 saves and the Wild outshot Ottawa 35-17.
Gopher Men’s Basketball Beats UMD in Exhibition Game
The Gopher men's basketball team defeated Minnesota-Duluth 95-68 Thursday night at Williams Arena. Minnesota had 5 players score in double figures led by junior college transfer Carlos Morris with 23 points on 10-17 shooting.
