Viking head coach Leslie Frazier announced today that rookie Christian Ponder will be the starting quarterback for the rest of the season including Sunday’s game at home against Green Bay.  Frazier says Ponder gives the Vikings the best chance to win right now and that he’s not giving up on the 2011 season.  Frazier says he liked what he saw from Ponder in Sunday’s loss at Chicago especially Ponder’s ability to handle the speed and pass rush in the NFL.

Frazier said veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb will the #2 quarterback and will support and help Ponder in whatever way he can.  The Vikings are 9-point underdogs and will host Green Bay at 3:15 Sunday, pregame on WJON at 2:00.
