Lennon Exits, 30 Years Ago Today

It's one of those days you never forget.  I had just moved to Houston, Texas and was settling in and watching Monday Night Football.

That's when the news came.

Howard Cosell announced that John Lennon had been shot in New York City.  Moments later he announced that John had died.  See it as it was announced on Monday Night Football.

I, like most everyone, was in shock.

The world of music had lost a great composer and performer.  The world had lost a great and gentle man that preached peace and love.  Can't have too much of that.

John was always my favorite Beatle.  Smart, witty and, unlike Paul, he wrote songs that said something.

Rest in peace, John.  You definitely made your mark on the world.
