Before Metallica became a mainstream "Rock" band they were paving the way for Trash Metal with amazing releases like "Kill Em' All", "Ride The Lighting" and "Master Of Puppets".  Then they reached a new level with "And Justice For All...".  They had already taken over the Metal world with "Master Of Puppets", but they gained much more mainstream attention with their first video for "One".  Yes, that's right, they hadn't done a video for their first three releases.  They were sort of the anti-glam band and were openly critical of the Hair Bands.  Ironically in the 90's Metallica members were wearing makeup themselves and pumping out videos left and right.
