The Metal scene in North America has been slim for the past 25 years or so, but there have been a handful of bands from the States that have shown the world we still have what it takes."Symphony X" is one of those bands, along with Dream Theater, Iced Earth, Jag Panzer, Kamelot and a few others.   They have actually been around since the mid-90's and have carved out a nice following over the years.

Most people label them as "Progressive Metal" similar to Dream Theater, except more on the heavy side.  Guitarist Michael Romeo and keyboardist Michael Pinella have been in the band since it's inception.  Singer Russell Allen joined after a year or so and the band has had a pretty consistent lineup since.

They do a lot of festivals overseas as this style doesn't draw major crowds in the states. They continue to put out releases every couple of years and seem to be gaining momentum.

Here's "Serpent's Kiss" from their 2007 release "Paradise Lost"
