Jerry Garcia's debut solo album, released in January of 1972, had its share of superbly crafted examples of the by now perfected Garcia-Hunter hook up.

 "Deal," "Bird Song," "Sugaree" "Loser" and "To Lay Me Down" were all to later enter rotation in the band's live performances.

On the solo album 'Garcia', Garcia played every instrument except the drums on the entire album, and did at least half of the writing as well.
