ST. CLOUD -- The city of St. Cloud is planning a ceremony to unveil the refurbished Abraham Lincoln statue which stood outside of the Empire Apartment building along 4th Avenue North.

The ceremony will be held on Veteran's Day on what is now called Lincoln Plaza north of the River's Edge Convention Center parking ramp.

Highlights to include the Lincoln Elementary Choir, Mayor Dave Kleis reading the Gettysburg Address, Civil War "re-enactors", and the unveiling of the statue.

The St. Cloud City Council voted to spend $30,000 in half-cent sales tax money back in 2013 to restore the 98-year-old figure.

The 1918 Lincoln statue was commissioned by then-mayor Peter Seberger. The ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m. on November 11th.
