Former Cathedral Crusader Nate Schmidt was selected by the Las Vegas Golden Knights in Wednesday's expansion draft. Schmidt had spent the previous four seasons with the Washington Capitals.

 

Schmidt, 25, played in 60 games last season for the Capitals and scored 17 points. Schmidt was a plus-22 for Washington, who finished the regular season with the NHL's best record.

In his four-year career Schmidt has played 200 games and registered 43 points.
