If you're heading out of town this week for the Thanksgiving holiday, today (Monday) is a good day to fill-up on gas. Most St. Cloud metro area gas stations are selling a gallon of regular unleaded for a $1.99.
Just when we'd expect gas prices to go up over the holidays, they are doing just the opposite. You may have seen a gallon as low as $1.99 in this area!
If you would have told me a year ago that we'd be paying less than two-dollars a gallon for gas I would have said you were crazy. Yesterday, I filled up in St. Cloud for $1.90 a gallon (after a 5-cent discount). Last May we were paying more than $4.00 a gallon. That's a huge deal. Sounds like it might stay this way for a while. How low can it go?
We already know gas prices are climbing precipitously high, but you don’t usually see them change right before your very eyes. For one news reporter, though, that’s exactly what happened.
Remember the summer of 2008 when the highest gas prices on record occurred and the price for a gallon of fuel hit $4.11?
Hate to break this to yah, but a warm winter and tensions in the Middle East have some analysts predicting current prices will top $4 by this spring — and could even climb as high as $6.50.
