High School Football

Albany advanced to the Class 3A Section 6 final with a 40-6 win last night over New London-Spicer. Becker cruised past visiting Zimmerman 34-3 and will face Orono in Saturday's section final. Pierz knocked off Foley 42-6 to set a date with Annandale at Husky Stadium on Saturday. Here are more area scores from yesterday:

Another round of Sectional Semifinals are scheduled across the state this afternoon and tonight featuring several area teams. Foley travels to Pierz to face the Pioneers at 7 PM. Sartell-St. Stephen's football season comes to an end after falling to unbeaten Moorhead 41-27. ROCORI advances after going on the road and shutting out Detroit Lakes 33-0. Royalton's playoff run came to an end last night, falling 14-0 at Eveleth-Gilbert. Foley advanced in the Minnesota High School football playoffs last night with a 21-14 win over visiting Milaca. Paynesville knocked off visiting Benson 64-35. Mora ended St. Cloud Cathedral's season with a 42-7 victory. See how the rest of the area teams fared.

Sartell-St. Stephen went on the road to open the playoffs last night and shut down Brainerd 41-16. ROCORI defeated visiting Little Falls 27-14. Royalton advances with a 28-14 win over Crosby-Ironton, and Princeton crushed Duluth Denfeld 69-12. See how the rest of the area teams fared.

The high school football season ended on Thursday, and this year's first-round playoff matchups were announced on Saturday. Only one St. Cloud-area team will be hosting a game, with the other five teams hitting the road.

The game was tied 6-6 going into halftime. Nick Warne had a 45 yard touchdown run to make it 13-6 in favor of ROCORI.

Despite the calendar only recently turning to September, week three of the high school football season is already upon us. Two teams remain undefeated in the North Central (Red) District in ROCORI and Moorhead.
