It was a surprisingly tough commute to work and school this (Friday) morning here in central Minnesota. A snow burst dropped just a enough precipitation to make for very slick roads. The Minnesota State Patrol says they responded to 34 crashes in the St. Cloud region.

They're rightly remembered as titans of jazz-rock and soul. But that's not the way things began.
