Benjamin Orr provided the vocals on this classic, sadly enough he passed away in 2000 of Pancreatic Cancer.

Ric Ocasek wrote the song in his basement at a commune in Newton, Massachusetts where he living at the time.

The 2-track demo recorded by The Cars  became the most-requested song throughout many a rock station in the country.

The Cars evolved from a trio called Milkwood, once becoming The Cars, "Just What I Needed" became the groups  first single.
