Throughout music history, there have been stories of bands that recorded songs they never thought would be hits. "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds is one of those songs. The band had to be encouraged by their label, A&M, to record it after The Fixx, Billy Idol, and more had turned it down. Once it made the soundtrack for "The Breakfast Club", it became a #1 hit and ended up staying on the charts from 1985-1987...one of the longest runs in chart history. While there's a 12-inch version floating around, the video features the radio version, which is also the one from the soundtrack.
