Earlier this week Prince fans were lined up down the hall eager for the opening of a new retail store at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport. According to the Star Tribune fans were even able to talk management into opening the store 45 minutes early.

The store is located in the main mall area at Terminal 1 near the south checkpoint and has a fairly large selection of merchandise, even more than the gift shop at Paisley Park.  The store is simply called 'Prince" and sells T-shirts, concert memorabilia, albums, books, c.d's and more. The store also sells tickets for tours at Paisley Park.

Audrey Johnson, director of business development for Airport Retail Group said, "We see our store as the gateway to Paisley Park, this is Prince’s home. This is where people loved him."  Some of Princes personal items are set to go on display in the future with a grand opening planned for July.

I personally think that this is a great tribute to an artist who truly embraced Minneapolis, and for people from all over the world coming in and out of the airport, this is a great opportunity for them to honor his memory as well.
