Actual White Claw Shortage or Marketing Ploy

Over the weekend I heard about this shortage of White Claw seltzer drinks.  I tried to get the Mango flavor (my favorite) and was informed about the shortage.  How is this even possible?  I mean, I realize that people are much more health conscious and this is probably the reason for the spike, but seriously, a shortage??

After discussing this, when they didn't have my Mango flavor, I did see on social media that this is actually just a marketing ploy.  Is it?  This actually does seem plausible.

This morning, I see this article... and maybe it is actually true.

"We are working around the clock to increase supply given the rapid growth in consumer demand," Sanjiv Gajiwala, the senior vice president of marketing at White Claw, said in an emailed statement. "In the meantime, we have been allocating product to our distributor partners to keep all markets in stock the best we can and will continue to do so until we get back to our normal safety stock position."

You know,.. there are other seltzer drinks.   And they are actually pretty good.  White Claw isn't the only game in town.

Try some others... you may like them.  Maybe this "shortage" will get some other products noticed.  It's like beer... they will make more.
