Another Email Scam Using COVID-19
This virus. It's been a really trying year to say the least. Unemployment at an all time high, people are dying, conspiracy theories, angry public, mandates, shut-downs and this.... another email scam. This one is on the newer side, using COVID-19 to let you know that your test is positive (you probably didn't even take one), you have been let go from your job, you need to click a link because you've been exposed and you need to find a testing place, or your account has been compromised and you need to click the link to make sure none of your information has been taken. This will let the hackers get the information. This has gotten so out of hand and crazy.
This is what's happening now. There is an email scam that is doing this. Letting you know that your test was positive and now you need to take action. I guess the thinking is that if they send out this fake email to enough people, someone will have had a test and are waiting for the results. So they might be inclined to click the link. It's a scam and they will get your information.

Some people have thought that this was how they were inflating the COVID numbers. It's not. It's a scam. It's to get your personal information, not to inflate any of the case numbers.
If you receive an email that looks like its from your employer, or from a supposed Dr. and you are not expecting it, check it out first before clicking a link. If it's from your employer, definitely forward it onto them and make sure it was a real email. Luckily here in the St. Cloud area, we have Centracare with the "MyChart". So if it's not from there, it's not real. Especially if you aren't expecting anything from them or it's not a time for a routine exam or Dr visit or RX refill. Don't click the link!
