Sony Pictures has certainly given one of our favorite sci-fi/action movies an upgrade with the new RoboCop reboot. The first trailer, even-though not that awe-inspiring,  gave us hope that with all the advances in SFX, at least the new film would be pretty.

The latest trailer, released this morning, is jacking up the WOW FACTOR. We've known about the cast for some time, but now we get to see how their cog fits into the machine. Samuel L. Jackson as a Bill O'Reilly-esque news pundit, Jackie Earle Haley as a para-military trainer, Michael Keaton as the greedy corporate fat-cat and best of all; Gary Oldman as the scientist behind the tech. Above all, is the casting of The Killing's Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy/RoboCop.

Kinnaman has had his turn playing the anti-hero through four seasons of AMC's mediocre cop-mystery show, but his better work is apparently yet to come. If he can successfully convince us to care about his character, it will make the merging of man and machine that much more brutal and tragic.

The new clips also show a much bigger storyline and some very-video-game-like action sequences. The trailer thrills me as an action-adventure sci-fi geek, but I'm wondering if I need the added understory of family and political 'robophobic' edge.

Watch and decide for yourself.
