The Frampton Comes Alive 35th anniversary tour came full circle last night,  playing in the city where much of it was recorded.  Frampton’s band stormed the Warfield in San Francisco last night, but there was one thing missing-  the actual venue where one of the most enduring and beloved rock works was recorded. The famous Winterland Ballrooom was torn down 26 years ago.

Winterland was a mainstay tour stop for anyone who was anyone in the rock era of the 60's and 70's. Groups like The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, The Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin have all recorded live albums there or used the stage a a studio setting.

The night the album was to be recorded, Frampton made it clear that his band wasn't to be informed of the intention. He wanted the purest performance from his band he could get. I think you'll all agree- they delivered.

Reviews of the show have yet to surface, but the fans on his Facebook page are raving!  We can imagine it's as good as the video below shot three years ago.
