You may have heard of them. Seazon of the Fly have slowly been making a name for themselves on the local rock scene in Central Minnesota. They've appeared at Halfway Jam, played Moondance Jam this past summer, and now they're in a hotly contested battle for a $25,000 prize on the website ArtistSignal.

Every 90 days, the website 'rewards' top vote-getters with $25,000 to jump start the band's or artist's careers. They have already handed out $50k and are about to award another $25k in 11 days, and Seazon of the Fly is in 4th place.

For the past 79 days, Seazon of the Fly have been diligently working their Facebook followers and fans into a voting frenzy, in an attempt to capture the top spot. Band members have dropped daily updates, free song downloads and frequent videos of cover songs as rewards to their fans for voting.

If you'd like to listen to their releases and cast your votes (you can vote once an hour), venture over to their ArtistSignal page here. You don't have to sign in to hear the music, but you do need to create a free account to vote. However, it's easiest just to click the 'Log In With Facebook' link.

They've recorded four albums in their decade stint as a band and the most recent one, WonderFly, is a polished, slicker and more mature sound. The offer a 'Deluxe Edition' of the album with some bonus tracks, including my favorite; the acoustic version of  A New Light.

The four members vary just as much musically as they do in age. Drawing from a wide range of genres and inspiration,  from Grunge to Progressive, hard and distorted to soft and acoustic; they’re a versatile group. Their live shows are comprised of top singles from bands that have inspired the group throughout their life long careers as musicians; Alice in Chains, System of a Down, Slipknot, Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana are all represented, along with a myriad of their original work. I've had the pleasure of seeing them live a couple of times, most recently at Moondance Jam where they put on a riveting show in the Lazy Moon Saloon.

The website, developed by a group of entrepreneurs who love music, is a platform that allows artists to sell their music while connecting with fans and developing their careers. Unlike other platforms, like iTunes and GooglePlay, the bands/artists that add their music to ArtistSignal get to keep 100% of their sales (However, if you purchase using a credit card, Amazon payments takes a small bite).
