Minnesota Ranked 6th in the Nation for Nurses

With the nursing industry expected to double in size in the next few years, more people are choosing nursing as their career choice even though there are stresses that come with the job. Here are the top states for those who want a career in nursing.

Wallethub just released their annual report of 2018's Best & Worst States for Nurses. They selected the best states comparing each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 21 key metrics that collectively speak to the nursing-job opportunities in each market.

Minnesota came in at #6 in the country for nurses, with data showing us at #1 for "Work Environment" and #29 for "Opportunity & Competition". With so many big hospitals here, along with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, ranking #29 in that category isn't surprising. There's a LOT of nurses that work in Minnesota.

Here's how each of the states in the U.S. ranked:

If you're curious about which states are considered the least friendly and opportunistic for nurses, here are the bottom three: Vermont, Hawaii, District of Columbia. None of them ranked well at all in the biggest key metrics.
