These mass shootings are very unnerving, to say the least.  What to do, how to do it, what behavior should be studied prior to gun purchase, what steps should we as a society take?  And even more questions continue on.  But what is you were a person who was in the building when something like this happens?  I don't know anyone personally who has gone through something like this, but I can't imagine how it would feel.

The latest (I can't believe I need to say latest) shooting happened in Boulder, CO. in a grocery store.  We've all heard about this and have seen the footage, and are mourning with the people who have lost family members.  10 people were lost that day.  One person who was in the store, but wasn't involved in the shooting, but was witness to the "popping" sound was from Minnesota.

According to an interview by KARE 11, Louis Sexton, who is a student at Colorado University and originally from Bemidji, has stopped in the store to pick up a few items before driving home.  He was about to leave the store when he heard a "popping" noise.  He wasn't sure what it was, and soon found out.

How is the college freshman coping?  He said that music is his go to.  He sat down and played his cello a distance away from the store, but within earshot of anyone around the store and in the parking lot paying tribute to those who were victims.

"For me cello has always been an escape from the real world," Saxton added. "Music is one of those universal languages that speaks to everybody yet doesn't have any words sometimes. They are pieces that - and well movements that - are very melancholy, and very contemplative and, in some ways, mourning. I felt like that is what I was feeling.

When words fail, or seem to be empty, music does seem to speak to everyone.
