WALLEYE FISHING LIMITS

I'm not sure why...but catching a Walleye is always great fun whenever I go up north fishing. If we want to be able to continue having this beautiful tasty fish in our lakes, we need to pay attention to the rules.

MAY FISHING

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources announced Tuesday, that early season anglers fishing on Lake Mille Lacs, from May 15th through May 31st, will be able to keep one walleye that's 21-23 inches long, or one that is longer than 28 inches.

SUMMER FISHING

In the summer, June 1st through June 30th, it will be 'catch-and-release only on the big lake, followed by a two week closure from July 1st through July 15th. The closure is meant to help reduce the hooking mortality that often increases when the water is hotter.  Then catch-and-release will resume on Mille Lacs from July 16th through September 15th.
