Planning to Travel by Plane Any Time Soon- New Regulations
I actually do have a trip planned... it's not until September, and I know it's a few months away, but thing will still be different.
I got a notice from Delta, and apparently all of the other airlines are going with these new regulations/restrictions for the foreseeable future. Delta assured that all areas will be sanitized on a regular basis. Passengers will need to practice social distancing, and everyone will be REQUIRED to wear a mask until the destination is reached. This does include all of the Delta employees as well.
Safer travel starts as you check in, where you will be required to wear a mask until you reach your destination. Our employees will be wearing them as well - just ask for one if you don’t have your own.
One change that is being made is that the middle seat will be blocked off. I can't really complain about that. This is because they will be running at 60% capacity, and this will also make sure that people are social distancing...and I suppose to make sure the weight is balanced on the plane. I have sometimes been given an upgrade when they needed to balance the plane, so they move passengers around. Sometimes there are advantages to flying alone.
The next thing is food and beverage service. I was wondering if that is something that will still be available. Generally I get my own before boarding... but they have a solution for that too.
Boarding will occur from back to front and be limited to 10 customers at a time to minimize your contact with others. You will receive snack bags with a sanitizing wipe at boarding on select flights to reduce onboard service touchpoints.
Whatever you plan to do in the near future... or possibly in the distant future, things are going to look a bit different. I'm actually kind of hoping that they continue with the sanitizing of the airplanes in between flights. I've always thought it was a little gross. But maybe that's just me.
Here's to safer travel! Stay healthy!
