There is talk in the state capitol about asking voters if a measure should be on a future ballot to legalize recreational marijuana. Personally, I don't really care for the term "recreational". Why can't we just call it "adult" marijuana or something. Chances are it won't make the ballot this November but possibly in 2019.

There are many pros and cons on the subject of legalization. Some of the pros include medicinal use. The plant is allegedly a plethora of medicinal properties. That alone would be a big reason. Of course, big pharma is not going to want you replacing their borderline poison with something you can grow in your backyard.

There's always the argument that it will mean a bunch of stoned people walking around, which is pretty stupid. Alcohol is legal and there doesn't seem to be that many drunk people walking around. I think most people would be surprised how many pot smokers the deal with on a daily basis. People from all walks of life, ages and professions.

A friend of mine told me the other day, he had a lot of friends in law enforcement. They all claimed that marijuana was never the issue when they responded to domestic assaults. But alcohol was involved nearly 100% of the time.

The revenue for the state is also a tempting plus. Handle the sale just like we currently do with alcohol and see what happens.

What do you think? Would you vote Yes or No on the legalization?
