Everyone has been talking price in the last year.  How much things have become, price gouging, products being limited and expensive, how the pandemic has affected the price of products, and how natural disasters have also had an affect on prices.  Bottom line, everything seems to have gone up in price... seemingly so.

But, that is not exactly the truth.  Apparently some things have actually gone down in price.  Not necessarily by a lot, but they have still gone down, nonetheless.  It's one of those things where the bad news travels a lot faster than anything that's good news.  People would like to complain more than they would like to have everything working the way it should.  AND if everything is working the way it should, then people would like to complain about when it wasn't working well.  You can't win.

So, what items have gone down in price this past year? There are a few items, albeit not something that's super important like the housing market, but these are some of the things according to Bring Me The News.

  • Bread: -1.2% (with white bread specifically down 2.3%)
  • Roasted coffee: -0.2%
  • Baby food: -1.7%
  • Soups: -1.1%
  • Personal care products: -0.3%
  • Video discs and other media, including rentals: -6.1%
  • Musical instruments and accessories: -0.8%
  • Nonprescription drugs: -0.6%
  • Butter: -0.6%
  • Potatoes: -2%

Like I said, not super important, but at least it's something and we can say "not EVERYTHNG" has gone up.  Just most of the stuff that people care a lot about.  So, there is that.  Let's hope it changes soon. Experts say that prices could stay inflated, or they could level out or they could go down.  Well, great.  Covered all the bases with that one.
